Incident: Barn Fire in Abergwili

On Wednesday, June 11th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Port Talbot and Llandysul Fire Stations were called to an incident in Abergwili, Carmarthen.

At 1.32pm on Wednesday, June 11th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Port Talbot and Llandysul Fire Stations were called to an incident in Abergwili, Carmarthen.

Crews responded to a fire involving one barn, measuring approximately 50 metres by 20 metres, consisting of bales and machinery.  At the height of the incident, approximately 27 tonnes of bales was alight.  A water shuttle system was established using a water bowser.

Crews liaised with the farmer to agree a plan to remove bales from the barn.  Bales were removed from the barn and extinguished by crews outside.  Crews utilised four hose reel jets, two 45ml hoses, one water bowser, small gear and the farmer’s telehandler to extinguish the fire.

Crews left the scene at 11.20pm.
