Incident: Grass Fire in Llanddewi Brefi

On Thursday, February 13th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Tregaron Fire Station was called to an incident in Llanddewi Brefi.

At 11.43am on Thursday, February 13th, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crew from Tregaron Fire Station was called to an incident in Llanddewi Brefi.

The crew responded to a grass fire involving around 12 fire fronts covering an area of approximately 1,000 hectares.  The majority of the area was inaccessible to the crew.  Crew members utilised a drone to monitor the fire and determined it didn’t pose an immediate risk to any properties or forestry.

Crew members continued to monitor the area before leaving at 4.20pm.

The role of an On-Call Firefighter provides many opportunities for personal and professional development, through training, teamwork, leadership and problem solving.  On-Call Firefighters receive payment for their services, including retainer fees and call-out payments, supplementing their income from other employment.
