White Goods Safety
This fire originated in the property’s utility room and MAWWFRS is issuing a reminder on white goods safety:
- NEVER leave appliances unattended - don’t turn your washing machine or tumble dryer on before you leave the house or go to bed. These appliances contain powerful motors with fast-moving parts that get very hot.
- Don’t overload your tumble dryer or put in items that have been used to soak up flammable liquids including cooking oil.
- Don’t ignore warning signs - if you can smell burning or have clothes that feel hotter at the end of the cycle, have your appliance checked by a professional.
More information on white goods safety can be found on MAWWFRS’s website.
