Long Service Awards: Over 160 Years of Combined Service

A long service awards ceremony was recently held at Talgarth Fire Station, to recognise and celebrate the remarkable commitment and dedication by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service Firefighters.

A long service awards ceremony was recently held at Talgarth Fire Station, to recognise and celebrate the remarkable commitment and dedication by Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) Firefighters.

Watch Manager Steven Daniel of Abercrave Fire Station, Watch Manager Bryan Davies of Talgarth Fire Station, Watch Manager Mark Hughes of Llandrindod Wells Fire Station and Watch Manager Nigel Perkins of Brecon Fire Station were all presented with long-service certificates at the event by the outgoing High Sheriff of Powys, Lady Kathryn Silk JP.

Joining the crew at Talgarth Fire Station and the celebration of the crew members’ achievements were Talgarth Mayor, Councillor Louise Elston-Reeves, MAWWFRS’s Chief Fire Officer, Roger Thomas KFSM and Group Manager Steve Rowlands, Head of MAWWFRS’s Northern Division.

On-Call Firefighters are an essential part of our Service and your community.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is currently recruiting On-Call Firefighters at all our On-Call Fire Stations.

The role of an On-Call Firefighter provides many opportunities for personal and professional development, through training, teamwork, leadership and problem solving.  On-Call Firefighters receive payment for their services, including retainer fees and call-out payments, supplementing their income from other employment.
