On Monday, 9 March, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service celebrated International Women’s Day at The Diplomat Hotel, Llanelli.
The event brought together women from across the Service to celebrate the achievements of colleagues and highlight important topics relating to women’s health and wellbeing.
Opening the event, Chief Fire Officer Craig Flannery welcomed attendees and spoke about the importance of recognising and supporting the contributions of women across the Service.
The Service’s fitness team delivered a session on health, fitness and time management, followed by Firefighter Rebecca Rowe, who shared her experience of trekking 1,200km across Antarctica and the work she has been doing to encourage young women into roles withing the Fire Service.
Keynote speaker Felicity Rowe also delivered a powerful talk about rowing 3,00 miles across the Atlantic while unknowingly battling cancer, and how her resilience helped her move forward.
The day concluded with a workshop led by international mindset coach Mick Stott and Victoria Embley, focusing on the power of attitude and mindset.
The event provided an opportunity for colleagues and guests to come together to celebrate, reflect and recognise the achievements of women across Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
