Firefighters from Morriston and Pontardawe Fire Stations took part in a training exercise at Pontardawe Leisure Centre on Wednesday, February 11th, which was designed to strengthen operational readiness.
The scenario focussed on breathing apparatus (BA) procedures and involved a simulated property fire with several people reported as trapped inside. Crews were tasked with conducting search and rescue operations in challenging, smoke‑filled conditions, mirroring the pressures faced during real emergencies.
As part of the exercise, the turntable ladder appliance from Morriston Fire Station was deployed to be used as a water tower and to gain a better view of the incident ground to check for any potential fire spread.
Inter Fire Station collaboration was key to the success of completing this training session. Training sessions like this play a vital role in ensuring that Firefighters remain prepared for complex incidents and continue to deliver a high standard of service to communities across Mid and West Wales.
