Morriston Fire Station have announced the opening of their new Wellness Room, a serene space designed to provide crew members with a quiet area to reflect, relax, and gather their thoughts after returning from incidents.

This initiative, launched in April to coincide with Stress Awareness Month, underscores the station's commitment to the mental health and well-being of its personnel.

The Wellness room also provides a quiet rest and reading area for Morriston On-Call personnel, who often join the wholetime watches at short notice to ensure appliance availability while specialist appliances attend incidents. It was a team effort, but extra thanks go out to Watch Manager Jonathan Short for his creative assistance with the project.

Anthony Mathias Station Commander at Morriston Fire Station said:

“I’m delighted to share the launch of the Wellness Room at Morriston station. The room has been created with crew welfare in mind and will give personnel a quiet area to relax and gather their thoughts when needed. We are aware of the traumatic and sometimes difficult circumstances our front-line operational crews face, and I hope this wellness room will play a small but meaningful part in supporting their mental health and well-being.”

Well done to everyone that got involved in this project. May the Wellness Room provide many years of support for all the crews at Morriston.
