The On-Call Firefighters at Aberystwyth Fire Station recently took part in a training exercise which simulated rescuing a casualty from height.
The exercise simulated an injured casualty who was stuck on a rooftop. Using ladders, harnesses and other specialist equipment, the crew worked quickly to assess the situation and formulate a plan to rescue the injured casualty. The crew had the opportunity to utilise their skills and knowledge in rescuing casualties at incidents with limited accessibility and at height. The crew was also able to use the Fire Station’s Turntable Ladder Appliance to reach and rescue the casualty.
The exercise tested their coordination, communication and technical rescue skills, ensuring they are always prepared for real-life emergencies.
