Recently, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Glynneath, Cymmer, Amman Valley and Seven Sisters Fire Stations took part in a training exercise at the Ebenezer Chapel in Pontneddfechan.

The exercise saw Firefighters participate in a simulated fire within the chapel, with 15 casualties requiring assistance and rescue.  The simulated emergency required the attendance of multiple fire engines and specialist equipment to be used to gain access to the building and rescue the casualties.

As part of the exercise, Firefighters could practice setting up hose lines, coordinating ladder operations and conducting rescues in environments with low visibility.  The exercise also reinforced the importance of incident command and effective radio communication.  Throughout this exercise, Firefighters gained valuable experience in managing fires, rescuing casualties and improving their readiness for real-life emergencies.
