On Wednesday, April 23rd, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Talgarth and Crickhowell held a training exercise at Talgarth Square.
The session simulated a property fire with persons reported trapped within the property, with dummies imitating the trapped casualties. The exercise provided the opportunity for crew members to practice working safely in conditions with limited visibility due to smoke and darkness, as well as to carry out breathing apparatus (BA) and manual handling procedures.
There was also the opportunity to work with partner agencies, with personnel from the Ambulance Service and Dyfed-Powys Police also taking part in the training exercise.
It was also possible for members of the local community to be involved, as they were invited to watch the training exercise as it unfolded. Crew members were on hand to provide information and to answer questions and the session provided the opportunity to highlight the training and work that is required to keep the communities of Mid and West Wales safe.
