A collection of hand-knitted ‘trauma teddies’ has recently been donated to Port Talbot Fire Station.

On Wednesday, September 3rd, Stephanie Houghton and her mother visited Port Talbot Fire Station to meet the crew and donate the 30 handmade teddies.

The teddies, known as Trauma Teddies, will be kept on fire engines and given to children and young people involved in incidents that Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) attends.  These incidents can often be overwhelming and frightening, and are unfamiliar experiences, the teddies distributed by MAWWFRS crews will hopefully bring some comfort to children and young people involved and alleviate any distress when possible.

Crews from across MAWWFRS’s service area often receive donations of Trauma Teddies, which is one example of the continued support MAWWFRS receives from the communities it serves.

MAWWFRS is very grateful to the generous donation of teddies by Stephanie and her mother.
