Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service has produced its first Biodiversity Action Plan 2020-2023 (PDF, 3.56Mb) to outline what we can do to enhance and encourage biodiversity onto our sites. There are a number of Objectives within the document to help the Service work towards our Section 6 duty under the Environment (Wales) Act 2016 (PDF, 3.33Mb).

A Biodiversity Action Plan Working Group has been set up to work towards the objectives over the next 3 years. An annual update on progress against these objectives will be included within the Annual Environmental Report along with all environmental projects and performance throughout the year.

The Section 6 (S6) duty was introduced under the Environment (Wales) Act 2016 to improve biodiversity and the resilience of ecosystems in Wales, essential to our well-being. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) is committed to excellence with a vision to become a world class organisation.  We recognise the increasing importance of the need to protect the environment and conserve the habitats and resources within the area we serve. As a Service, we have made a commitment to be an environmentally responsible Service, and as such achieved the Level 5 Green Dragon EMS Standard in 2014.
