Jumping into Water

The dangers of jumping into water

  • Never jump into water without knowing its depth. The depth can change with waves or tides.
  • Beware of underwater obstacles.
  • Beware of fast-moving water.
  • Beware of cold-water shock. All waters, inland and coastal around the UK are cold enough to induce cold-water shock.
  • Keep away from uneven banks and loose edges.
  • Don’t jump near boats or where there is boat traffic.
