Autumn Safety

Stay Safe This Autumn!

It’s the time of year we start to see the leaves beginning to change, and the night drawing in. The weather is changing, bringing cooler temperatures and shorter days.  Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service are ready with some essential safety advice to ensure that you stay safe this Autumn.

Home Safety

We want to encourage all households to do some basic safety checks within their homes to reduce the risk of fires. Remember to regularly test your smoke alarms and have at least one alarm installed on each level of your home. If you have an open fire or wood burning stove in your home, it is important to properly maintain flues and chimneys. Having your central heating system serviced regularly will also reduce the risk of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning.

Garden Safety

Autumn months provide the perfect opportunity to finish any gardening projects you started over the summer. You may have collected garden waste in the hope that you can burn it when the weather is dry or simply want to relax and fire up the chimenea in the garden on a cooler evening. Either way, be sure to follow our safety advice on how to stay safe in your garden this Autumn.

Bonfire Safety

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service would always recommend that people attend an organised bonfire night event, however, we understand that some people will want to have their own private displays, and while we want people to enjoy themselves, we ask everyone to think how they can Keep Wales Safe this Bonfire Night.
