Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) relies on the ongoing support and generosity of local communities. That contribution has recently been recognised within the Service’s Northern Division, covering Powys and Ceredigion.
Two Welshpool caravan parks - Neuadd Bridge Caravan Park and Severn Caravan Park - have recently been presented with MAWWFRS recognition certificates in appreciation of their generosity and long-standing assistance with training exercises.
At Neuadd Bridge Caravan Park in Llanfair Caereinion, Roger and his family have supported MAWWFRS and the wider community by allowing crews to use the site for water first responder training. In addition to providing access to a section of the River Banwy that runs alongside the park, Roger has also opened the site’s welfare facilities during training sessions, ensuring crews remain comfortable and exercises run smoothly.
Meanwhile, Rachel and her family at Severn Caravan Park in Forden have regularly welcomed crews to their site, making a stretch of the River Severn available for a variety of water‑based training activities.
Strong relationships with local communities and businesses are essential to the work of MAWWFRS. This support includes employers enabling On‑Call Firefighters to respond to emergencies by allowing them to leave their primary workplace at short notice when an alert is received.
MAWWFRS extends its sincere thanks to all those who continue to support its work. These examples highlight the invaluable contribution that local organisations make to the operational readiness of MAWWFRS.
