Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is the enforcing authority for the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 in relation to appropriate premises situated in the Service’s area.
As the fire safety enforcing authority for such premises, the Service is consulted by building control bodies where such bodies are involved in checking compliance of relevant building work with the Building Regulations.
From April 2017 the submission of all Building Regulations consultations (including pre-consultation requests, Building Regulation information requests, Planning applications, Initial Notices, Final Certificates, Demolition Notices, etc.) will only be accepted electronically through the dedicated email address: bregs@mawwfire.gov.uk They will then be processed by the Service’s Building Regulations team.
Guidance for Building Control Bodies and Approved Inspectors
To ensure all relevant documentation is incorporated with the relevant application, Building Control bodies and Approved Inspectors are required to include a completed document Appendix J (.docx, 35Kb) and a covering letter, using your headed paper, stating:
- the full postal address of the consultation premises/area
- your unique reference number
- your contact details
We would ask that plans relevant to the fire safety element of the application together with a location plan are in PDF format. To aid ease of identification of the plans, we would ask that if multiple emails are being sent with attachments, that each email indicates your reference number and an email number e.g. 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc.
All relevant documentation as well as the covering letter should be sent to the above email address.
If the email and attachments have been received successfully, they will then be processed and allocated to a member of the Building Regulations team and the Building Control Body/Approved Inspector will receive an email response confirming receipt, processing, and allocation. Should the Building Control Body/Approved Inspector require a specific member of our Building Regulations team to receive the consultation then this should be requested in the initial email submission.
The emails are accessed every day but if the application is received after four o’clock it will be deemed to have been received on the next working day, this is to comply with rules governing the receipt of electronic communication.
Building Control Bodies/Approved Inspectors will receive our consultation response within the 15-day statutory requirement via the above email address.
